See what’s covered

Knowing if your plan will pay for a medication can help you manage your overall spending.

How do I know if a medication is covered?

You can search for a medication in the Drug Pricing tool. If the drug is covered, the tool will show pricing at different pharmacies. If it’s not covered, a Drug not covered message will appear. This means your insurance will not pay for that medication.

Note: While your plan may not cover a brand-name medication, it may pay for the generic version of that prescription drug.

Prescription drug list

A prescription drug list, also known as a formulary, includes all medications covered by your plan. These lists help prescribers and their patients choose cost-effective treatments that can treat a health condition. Enter a medication to see if it’s on your plan’s prescription drug list. You can also search alphabetically or browse by therapeutic class.

Prescription drug list FAQ

A prescription drug list does not include all medication that is available. Optum® Rx regularly reviews medication for safety, effectiveness and cost. When appropriate, medication is added or removed from prescription drug lists. For example, lists are changed when a company launches a new drug or recalls one due to safety issues.

Contact your prescriber to discuss your options. They can submit a prior authorization for your current medication or change your prescription to an alternative prescription drug.

If your plan allows members to download the prescription drug list, a link to download a PDF will appear beneath the search bar on your Prescription drug list page.
